I started my Curl Journey in 2016. I was tired of my hair constantly breaking due to straightening, and not being able to retain length as a result. I had every intention of going right back to straightening my hair once I gave it a little break from heat, but didn’t.

By letting go of my hot tools I discovered my natural texture is something to be loved and embraced. It is who I am and represents my identity and I cannot imagine going back.

The struggles, problems, and experiences associated with having curly hair in a society that has no idea what to do with curls is something I have always related to because its my same experience as well.

I have been doing hair since 2010, but I have never been so passionate about hair as I have been since leaning into texture. Like most of us in Beauty School, I wasn’t initially taught how to work on hair that had any texture, especially not as tight as my own. I started to burn out in my career & decided to find what parts of the hair industry made me crave coming to work every day.

Texture, & Education.

Since then I have worked on creating a space that encompasses all of those things. I started by taking all the curl education I could find which then shifted in to me developing new techniques & methods for coloring & cutting curly & coily hair. I also make it a point to teach every guest in my chair how to do their own hair.

I know what it’s like to feel frustrated & even ashamed with your hair because you have no clue how to maintain what you have. It’s so much more common than you think.

My mission is to bring quality texture education to salons, & to provide a hair experience that gives you all the tools you’ll need to succeed for healthy hair. I want to impact our communities so that we don’t have the worry, or feel stigma about our hair & are able to feel empowered & embrace what our hair naturally does.

I look forward to being apart of your curl journey!

Kaleigh Marchant

Junior Stylist

I’m Kaleigh Marchant and I’m passionate about all thing wavy, curly & coily.

As an interracial child I grew up with a white mother that did not know how to care for my hair. Everything was trial and error. But I always appreciated my hair, I was never one to try and change it or straighten besides when I needed a haircut. I would say “girls with curls have power” growing up.

I got my first curly cut & salon experience when I was 20 years old. I navigated through life 20 years without knowing how to really take care of my curls. Think about that…

My first curly lesson was a game changer!

It wasn’t until 3 years later I decided to help people embrace their texture/curls and go to cosmetology school to get my license and start the career change from veterinary technician to Curl Specialist!

My mission is to be a curl advocate, provide a safe & inclusive space for everyone, and help people love their curls not just “deal with it”. I want everyone to feel the confidence and comfort I felt after my first experience.

Haute Aura Curls not only symbolizes wavy/curly/coily hair, but also spirituality & positive energy. I strive to make everyone feel comfortable & happy while they are in the chair. You must connect with yourself: mind, body & soul and love all parts of YOU.
